Everybody knows these films. Everyone has also seen them close to a thousand times. Why? Because every time these films come on television, we cant help ourselves. We MUST watch them the entire way through, even though we already know the endings and can recite half the movie word for word.

These films make us laugh, cry and be happy to be alive. They are what's great about the film industry and shape the way movies should be made.

So here's the list of the 5 Movies You Must Watch Every Time They Come on TV!

That Thing You Do! 1996, Comedy, written and directed by Tom Hanks

Starring: Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Steve Zahn, Johnathon Schaech, Ethan Embry and Tom Hanks

The characters are busting with quirky personality and the songs are down-right genius and catchy. That's what makes this movie a winner. While skimming though the TV channels, you will always stop to hear that captivating song, That Thing You Do, and sing along with Jimmy, Lenny, Shades and T.B. Player. Plus, this movie is family friendly, which makes it a winner to watch with the young ones as a family.

The Princess Bride, 1987, Fantasy Comedy, written by William Goldman and directed by Rob Reiner

Starring: Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, and many more.

Nothing in the fairy tale, fantasy genre beats The Princess Bride. The powerfully-simple love story of Westley and Buttercup is filled with passion, adventure and some of the greatest comedy scenes from Billy Crystal and Andre the Giant. Also, this movie is great for the little ones to enjoy. So grab some "peanuts" and enjoy this mid-eighties classic.

The Karate Kid, 1984, Drama, written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John G/ Avildsen

Starring: Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita and Elisabeth Shue

This TV classic places Happy Day's Pat Morita into his most well-known and critically acclaimed role as Daniel-son's mentor, Mr. Miyagi. Miyagi shapes Daniel into a man by teaching him how to fight, while also guiding Daniel in life, showing him how to center himself by cutting bonsai trees. This movie is great for the family with children above the age of seven or eight.

Back to the Future, 1985, Science Fiction Adventure, written by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis and directed by Zemeckis

Starring: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Chrispin Glover and Lea Thompson

Who wouldn't want to back to 1985? I know I would. This adventure movie takes you from 1985 to 1955 and back again, all without leaving the comfort of your home. The zany antics of Marty McFly as he encounters his parents and the evil, yet extremely dense, Biff in 1955 is overtly priceless. Plus, a DeLorean as a time machine? GREAT! A must watch every time it comes on, this movie will go down in history as one of SiFi's best.

Rocky, 1976, Drama, written by Sylvester Stallone and directed by John G. Avildsen

Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers and Burgess Meredith

This movie is the best overall story of overcoming the odds and succeeding while the world constantly shoves you down. It's motivating, riveting and just plain brilliant. A movie for adults and teens, you might only catch this movie coming on later at night. Winner of the 1976 Academy Award for Best Picture, this movie tops all genres of television viewership when it airs.

So grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show!
